A “dermal filler”, such as JUVÉDERM® XC Injectable Gel, may be used to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and to enhance the lips. The active ingredient in this product is hyaluronic acid, a substance which is naturally present in the skin. JUVÉDERM® XC is formulated with lidocaine, a common anesthetic, to provide a more comfortable treatment. The gel is injected into the unwanted lines to add smoothness to the skin. The effect typically lasts 6 – 9 months, approved by the FDA to last up to one year.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and JUVÉDERM® XC Injectable Gel are powerful allies in the fight against lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic stops wrinkles where they begin, by relaxing the muscles that cause the wrinkles. When the muscle is unable to pull on the skin, the wrinkle does not form. This not only treats existing wrinkles, but prevents them from forming. JUVÉDERM® XC Injectable Gel fills in deep lines that are present with the face at rest. Common areas for these lines to form are between the nose and the lips and between the eyebrows. When BOTOX® Cosmetic and JUVÉDERM® XC Injectable Gel are used together, the effects are longer lasting!
– Deep facial lines, particularly of the nasolabial folds and lips
– Thin or aged lips
The skin is anesthetized with local anesthesia. JUVÉDERM® XC Injectable Gel is injected into the lines or along the pink roll of the lip until the desired fullness is achieved. Ice (cold compress) is applied following the procedure.
The treated area may be swollen for 24 to 48 hours. Applying ice will help to decrease the swelling. Arnica Montana gel may be used to minimize the bruising that may occur.
