During pregnancy, a woman experiences an increase in the size of her breasts and abdomen. Her skin is not only stretched, but her body actually grows more skin. Following delivery, a woman’s ability to return to her pre-pregnancy physique depends upon how drastic these changes were and how resilient her skin is. Breast feeding may lead to significant changes in the breasts. Often this results in small, sagging breasts and excess skin and fat of the abdomen. These problems may be corrected by a combination of the following procedures. For many patients, the breast and abdominal procedure may be performed at the same time.

Women who desire breast enhancement following childbirth and breast feeding face different challenges than women who have never experienced significant changes in their breast size. Mothers who have had an increase in breast size, followed by a loss of breast volume post-partum are often left with small breasts that appear to sag. With breast augmentation surgery, an implant may be used to restore breast volume and give the breasts a lifted appearance. Excess skin may be removed and the nipple position may be elevated at the time of the augmentation, in a manner to conceal the scar. Overall, the breasts are fuller, lifted, and rejuvenated.

Often, the breasts lose volume and the skin becomes loose. Some women will develop stretch marks of their breasts. Breasts implants may be used with a breast lift to increase breast fullness.

Liposuction may be performed to remove excess fat, when the skin is in good condition. Traditional and power assisted liposuction remove fat cells between the muscles and skin with vacuum pressure. Smartlipo laser lipolysis uses laser energy to destroy fat cells so that the liquefied fat may be easily removed with liposuction. The combination of Smartlipo and liposuction causes less bruising and less trauma to the surrounding tissues, which helps our patients recover faster. Smartlipo also helps to tighten the skin to create a smooth appearance to the skin.
